Together with our contractors, Murphy, we are installing new underground electricity cables between Nailsea and Portishead substation.
We agreed a construction traffic management plan with the local authorities which sets out the roads our vehicles can use for construction work.
To keep everyone safe while we work on the highways, we need to temporarily restrict parking, put up traffic lights and close some roads for a short time.
Our contractors will put up advance notice signs to let local road users know of any traffic restrictions and road closures.
Over the next few months, there will be roadworks and parking restrictions in the following locations:
|Road name||Location||Date||Traffic management||More information|
|Hanham Way||Nailsea||4 January to late February 2021||Road closure||Diversion map|
|Engine Lane & Blackfriars Road||Nailsea||January/February 2021||Restricted parking||Here|
|Pound Lane, Fryth Way, |
Causeway View and
|Nailsea||January 2021||Restricted parking||Here|
We’ve been coordinating our work with Bristol Water to carry out essential work to reinforce and divert an existing water main in Hanham Way. Diverting the water main has taken longer than expected and we are no longer able to complete our underground cable installation before Christmas, as intended.
We’ve agreed with the local highway authority to pause cable laying during December. To ensure the safety of the work area and to prevent unnecessary delays to road users, we will reinstate and reopen Hanham Way during this time.
We’ll return to complete the work from 4 January 2021 and will need to close a section of the road until this work is completed at the end of February 2021.
We know this closure will cause disruption to residents and delays to journeys and we are sorry about this. We are working with Murphy to reduce our impact where we can and to complete these works and reopen Hanham Way as soon as possible.
We value your ongoing patience and understanding.
Our working hours are between 7am and 7pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 5pm on weekends. There will be occasions when we’ll need to work at weekends or overnight – but there are restrictions to this.
