We’re preparing to build the new overhead line, mainly using T-pylons from Sandford substation to Seabank substation (approximately 31.2 km).
Over the coming months our contractor, Balfour Beatty, will carry out ecological mitigation, clear vegetation, erect stock fencing and carry out detailed surveys along the route of the new overhead line.
When we’re carrying out surveys on the roads, Balfour Beatty, will need to manage the traffic to keep public and our workers safe. This will involve using temporary traffic lights or ‘stop/go’ boards. We will inform local communities and place advance notice signs ahead of any temporary traffic measurements being put in place.
Programme for building T-pylons
Construction work starts in May 2021. Our first activities will be to build temporary traffic access points and haul roads which allow us to move traffic off main roads directly into the construction areas.
We’ll provide more detailed information on the T-pylon construction programme when it is available.
Before work starts, we will write to local residents and contact parish councils with more detailed information. To register for project updates and more information, please visit our contact us page and get in touch with our community relations team.
