Roadworks and traffic management
We’re preparing to build the new overhead line, mainly using T-pylons from Sandford substation to Seabank substation (approximately 31.2 km).
Construction work starts in May 2021. Our first activities will be to build temporary traffic access points and construction roads which allow us to move traffic off main roads directly into the construction areas.
Together with Western Power Distribution (WPD), we’re making changes to the existing network – north west of Sandford substation towards Puxton to connect the new WPD substation at Sandford.
A construction traffic management plan has been agreed with the local authorities which sets out the roads our vehicles can use for construction work.
When we’re working on the highways, our contractors need to manage the traffic to keep everyone safe. This will involve using temporary ‘stop/go’ boards, traffic lights, and restricting parking and closing roads in some areas.
Our contractors put up advance notice signs to let local road users know of any traffic restrictions and closures.
We have agreed the following timings with the local highway authority:
|Road Name||Location||Date||Traffic management||More information|
|Kennmoor Road||Kenn||22-26 February 2021||Traffic lights||-|
Please note these dates may change at short notice.
We know our work may cause disruption to journeys and we’re sorry for any inconvenience. We’re working with our contractors to keep traffic moving as best we can and to complete our work as quickly as possible.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
