Inspiring outdoor fun in Woolavington

£20,000 grant funds purchase of play equipment

A £20,000 grant provided by National Grid’s Community Grant Fund, alongside £5,000 from Woolavington Parish Council, has helped to fund the rejuvenation of play equipment in Woolavington Playing Field.

The field is close to a number of homes with little to no outdoor space and is well used by families for their outdoor fun.  The old play equipment, including a wooden Burma bridge and wobble board – was dated, uninspiring and in need of replacement.

Outdoor play is essential and we’re delighted to help supply the equipment

The grants from National Grid and Woolavington Parish Council funded the installation of a modern multi-play unit, a hand trim trail, stepping pods, a balance beam, and a spinning cone climber. The equipment, installed by Sutcliffe Play, includes suitable safety surfacing to ensure that children from the local area can enjoy the outdoor space safely.  The type of equipment was chosen after a consultation exercise by the Woolavington Playing Fields Association.

James Goode, Project Director on the Hinkley Connection Project, commented: “Our Community Grant Fund continues to change lives and invest in young people and communities. Outdoor play is essential and we’re delighted to have played even a small part in supplying the kind of equipment that local families wanted to see and enjoy.”
